OUR 2017 PROGRAM

THIS PROGRAM IS NOW CLOSED, BUT FEEL FREE TO CONTACT US ABOUT OUR 2018 PROGRAM :)

Growing Together Gardening Care combines Social & Therapeutic Horticulture and a straightforward gardening maintenance service which enables Older People to continue to benefit from gardening and to continue to live independently. Our focus is on supporting older people 65+ in their own homes. Our key social purpose is to improve physical & psychological well being. Supported gardening enables this by providing enjoyable and purposeful activity and exercise, and through the reduction of social isolation.

We do this by using two member of staff to provide two sets of services in tandem.

1) A basic garden maintenance service which offers :

  • Seasonal pruning, grass cutting, weeding, hedge cutting and leave collection and so forth. We also 'plant out' and can help maintaining a basic vegetable garden rotation.

2) Garden networking :

  • Offering supported ‘table top’ gardening employing the methods of Social & Therapeutic Horticulture. Planting out hanging baskets, containers, propagation, making bird feeders and so forth.
  • One member of staff giving clients their full attention as required.
  • Providing the incentive and facilities which would encourage clients to spend more time outside on a regular basis.
  • Enable (closed group) electronic communications with family, carers and friends.
  • Help develop a small community network around clients which will offer help with; daily watering, dead heading, topping up bird feeders etc.
